The Medusa Phase
Lisa Lunskaya Gordon

In the Medusa Phase, the mature organism releases itself from the bottom and becomes free swimming. These ethereal jellyfish float somewhere between the deepest oceans, where color has no meaning, and the gossamer white of Heaven: the weightless world of transmutation, reanimation, rhyme, anemic memory...

The medusas have come to represent the contradictions of our societal values:
Trash/Worth: These torn and useless objects rescued from the trash become alive again, their wear transformed into the mark of fragility of our natural environment.

24 Hanging sculptures, variable sizes, Media: junk, 2004
